What is BulletinBarn?
BulletinBarn is a local board for buying and selling animals — livestock, poultry, horses, dogs, cats, small animals, and reptiles. Think of it as a classifieds board built specifically for animals, where buyers and sellers connect directly and handle everything in person. We're a venue, not a middleman: we never process payments between buyers and sellers, and we never take a cut of a sale.
Is it really free?
For buyers, always — browsing, searching, saving listings, and messaging sellers are free forever, with no fees ever to buy. For sellers, yes, you can list and sell without ever paying us a cent. A free account includes one active listing with one photo, which is a real, working listing — not a trial. Paid plans exist for sellers who want more active listings, more photos, and extra visibility, but they're optional. You never need a paid plan to sell on BulletinBarn.
How does BulletinBarn make money if it doesn't take a cut?
Sellers who want more capacity — more listings, more photos, or promotional boosts — can choose a paid plan. That's it. We never charge buyers, we never process the money between a buyer and seller, and we never take a percentage of any sale. Paid plans start at $15/mo.
What's the founding offer?
Sign up for a free seller account on or before December 31, 2026, and your account keeps three free listings for life — even if the standard free tier changes later. It's our thank-you to the early members who help get the board going.
What do the paid plans include?
Paid plans give sellers more active listings, more photos per listing, promotional boost tokens, and a fuller seller profile. Plans start at $15/mo. You can see the full breakdown on our Pricing page.
How do payments work between buyers and sellers?
They don't go through us — ever. BulletinBarn never handles money between buyers and sellers. You arrange payment directly with the other party, in person, at pickup. Cash is normal for this kind of sale. We don't process, hold, or facilitate any payment between users, and we don't arrange shipping.
Is BulletinBarn safe to use?
We build for safe, local, in-person transactions. Every seller verifies their email before posting, you can message sellers privately through the platform without sharing personal contact info, and you can block or report any user or listing. Buyers can leave reviews of sellers, so reputations are visible. We're also building toward optional phone and ID verification for members who want to show verified authenticity. As with any in-person sale: meet somewhere public when you can, bring someone with you, ask to see records or paperwork, and trust your gut.
How do I list an animal for sale?
Create a free account, become a seller, and post your listing with a photo, description, price, and your general location. Listings are local-pickup only. Your listing stays active for 30 days, and you can renew it or mark it sold anytime.
Where does BulletinBarn operate?
We're building our community starting in North Idaho and Eastern Washington, so that's where you'll find the most listings right now. Anyone in the U.S. can create an account and list — and our goal is to serve buyers and sellers across the country as we grow. If you're outside our core area, you're welcome to join and help seed the board in your region.
Do I need any license or permit to sell animals?
Requirements vary by state, county, and the type and number of animals involved — and they're your responsibility as the seller. BulletinBarn is a venue, not a regulator, and we can't advise on your specific situation. Before selling, check the rules that apply to you with your state department of agriculture or local authorities. By listing, you confirm you're following all laws and holding any permits your sale requires.
Can I sell any kind of animal?
BulletinBarn is for lawful, private-party animal sales across our categories. You're responsible for making sure your sale is legal where you are and that you hold any required permits or paperwork. We don't allow listings for anything unlawful or that you're not permitted to sell. If you're unsure whether something is allowed in your area, check with your local authorities first.
How is this different from Facebook groups or Craigslist?
Those work, but they're not built for animals. BulletinBarn is — with animal-specific categories, breed and location search, seller profiles and reviews, and private messaging, all in one place made for exactly this. No sifting through unrelated posts, no lost threads, no middleman.
What does it cost to buy?
Nothing. Buyers never pay BulletinBarn anything, ever. You browse, search, save listings, and message sellers for free. The only money that changes hands is between you and the seller, in person, at pickup.
