Why this exists

If you've ever tried to buy or sell an animal around here, you know the drill. You post in a Facebook group and it's buried by morning. You list on Craigslist and it's lost among couches and car parts. Neither was built for animals, and it shows.

BulletinBarn is. It's a local board made for one thing: connecting the people who raise, sell, and look for animals in their own community. Livestock, poultry, horses, dogs, cats, small animals, reptiles — with real categories, real search, and real profiles, all in one place that fits how this kind of buying and selling actually works.

Who's behind it

BulletinBarn is built and run by one person — Michael, born and raised in Sandpoint, who's spent his whole life between here, Coeur d'Alene, and Moscow. Not a company, not a team in some far-off city. One person from North Idaho who saw that the folks around here deserved a better place to buy and sell animals than a cluttered Facebook feed, and decided to build it.

The idea started with my brother, Cody. He's the one who first said out loud that this area needed something like this — a real board, built for animals, for the people who actually live and work here. That spark was his. Everything after it — the nights building it, the design, the code, the hundred small decisions that turn an idea into a working thing — has been mine. But it doesn't exist without him planting the seed, and I wouldn't want anyone reading this to think otherwise. Thanks, Cody.

How I think about it

BulletinBarn is a venue, not a middleman. It doesn't process payments between buyers and sellers, it doesn't arrange shipping, and it never takes a cut of a sale. You meet the other party in person and handle it yourselves — the way animal sales have always worked. That's not a limitation; it's the whole idea. Local, in person, direct.

That shapes how it makes money, plainly: buyers never pay anything, ever. Sellers can list for free, and those who want more room or visibility can choose a paid plan. That's it. I'm not here to insert myself between you and a handshake.

What I care about

Trust.A board is only as good as the confidence people have using it. Verified emails, private messaging, seller reviews, and the ability to report anything that doesn't belong — I build so that meeting a stranger to buy a goat feels safe, because it should.

Fairness.Paid visibility is always labeled, and it never means a listing is endorsed. A boosted post only shows up where it genuinely fits what you're looking for. The top of your search results isn't for sale to the highest bidder, because a board you can't trust isn't worth browsing.

Community.BulletinBarn is starting where I'm rooted — North Idaho and Eastern Washington — because a marketplace works best when it's dense and local. The goal is to grow that same neighborly board out across the country, one region at a time.

Where it's headed

It's new, and I'm building it in the open. The board grows as more people in the community join it, and the early members — the ones taking a chance on something small and local — are the ones who make it worth browsing for everyone who comes after.
